AEP proposes mechanisms to procure 900 MW of wind, solar projects

AEP Ohio will install 900 MW of new wind and solar generation thanks to the approval of its Electric Security Plan.

Under the plan, approved by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, AEP Ohio has pledged to develop 400 MW of solar and 500 MW of wind via a secured method to request approval from PUCO for new resources.

Other elements of the plan include expanded access to electric vehicle charging, continued vegetation management, utilization of smart devices to improve reliability and development of microgrids for critical public service facilities.
