Exclusive Webinar: WCS, Areva & GSI Share the Latest on Consolidated Interim Storage Progress

London, UK: Key Project leaders including WCS’s Vice President of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs; Scott Kirk, AREVA TN’s Senior Advisor and Project Engineer; Jack Boshoven & President of Government Strategies Inc.; Mike Callahan, will co-host an online event on the progress being made towards licensing the nation’s first CISF.

WCS along with industry partners AREVA TN and NAC will work together to license, construct and operate the US’ first proposed consolidated facility to hold spent nuclear fuel (SNF) for an interim period, alleviating the burden placed on the industry in managing SNF without a coherent national nuclear waste strategy. On the upcoming exclusive webinar, Head of Nuclear Energy Insider, Siobhan O’Meara expressed, “Nuclear Energy Insider is excited to host a webinar on consolidated interim storage with such distinguished guests. In direct contrast to the political turmoil surrounding nuclear waste, it’s refreshing to see innovation and collaboration taking place on such a critical issue”.

The key topics to be discussed include:

  • Latest statements on the first-of-a-kind licensing process and advancements being made with the NRC and local communities in order to ensure the CISF will be constructed
  • Insight into the technology to be used at the Andrews County site and how cross-industry collaboration is vital to the success of the project
  •  An overview of the major used nuclear fuel challenges and why now is a critical time to invest time and resources into solving them

The webinar is taking place on Wednesday July 27 2016, 10:00-11:00AM EDT and is free to attend. Joining instructions are available on the event registration site: http://bit.ly/2alqXNb
