Electricity generation, transmission, transformation and distribution services provider, Omexom, has been awarded electrical infrastructure contracts totalling £1.3million across Lancashire in the north west of England.
The two new contracts, which involve the refurbishment of overhead lines in Skelmersdale and the outskirts of Preston, bring the value of business secured by Omexom with Electricity North West since 2012 to £8m.
These recent wins are in addition to the £9m substation contracts and £3m renewable energy contracts that the electricity services provider announced in October and December respectively.
Peter Latham, Business Unit General Manager for Omexom UK Transmission Overhead Lines, said:
“We are thrilled to have won two new contracts with Electricity North West, following a highly competitive tender process.
“The projects, which are due to be completed by September 2016, involve the refurbishment to conductor and insulator sets and overhead lines between Washway Farm and Skelmersdale and Pentwortham and Riddle.
“The latter involves extensive access works as the overhead line crosses Penwortham golf course and also involves the replacement of 6 overhead pylons along the route.
“We have worked with Electricity North West on a number of contracts in recent years and we are very pleased to have been selected to carry out this work and to continue our partnership in 2016.”
Daniel Garner, Programme Delivery Manager for Electricity North West, said:
“We’re committed to ensuring our customers across the North West receive a reliable power supply to their homes and businesses for years to come and these essential projects will help us achieve this by upgrading the power network.
“We’re delighted to award these two contracts to Omexom and be able to continue our already successful relationship.”
Under parent company VINCI Energies, Omexom is responsible for delivering electrical power generation, transmission, transformation and distribution services.
Omexom UK & RoI’s Managing Director, Alastair Dawson, said:
“It is hugely encouraging to win repeat business from the likes of Electricity North West.
“Our longstanding relationship with the network is a reflection of our staff’s commitment to delivering work of the highest quality and standard, in what is a very competitive market.”
