Start Construction of the Second Solar Power Plant in Awaji Island

Eurus Energy Group observed a groundbreaking ceremony for the Eurus Kitaawaji Solar Park (total output capacity; 10.5MW (AC)) developing in Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture on February 18 at the scheduled construction site of this facility. And the ceremony was attended by the mayor of Awaji City, local celebrities and the representatives of engineering contractors concerned.

This Solar Power Plant will be constructed on about 23 hectares of land which was a former area of sediment collection business in Ogura, Awaji City, and will be installed about 51,000 Kyocera’s photovoltaic modules. This facility will be our group’s second solar power plant in Awaji Island.

The start of commercial operation of the plant is planned for July 2017, and this project is expected to provide electricity enough to feed about 4,000 general households, equivalent to about 20% of total households in Awaji City.

In addition, Hyogo Prefecture, Awaji City, Sumoto City and Minami-Awaji City are designated by the central government as a special industrial belt for regional invigoration of economic activities in line with the Awaji Environmental Futuristic Island Concept for Sustainability. Our Group is determined to promote the solar park project to pitch in for the cause of the regional economic invigoration concept.
